The Orbit of Hope: A new mindset for 2026

Another year has gone by, and a new year has come. Most of us would say time flies; some see it as wasted days, and some wish for more time. Yet, we all hope the new year brings fresh hope and turns our lives for the better.

I was reading a reel about how a year is actually about motion—planets moving around a sun. Some are fast, some are slow; our Earth takes 365 days. But what caught me was this: “A year is not something disappearing, but something that is completed.”

This made me think. For most of us, a year ending feels like time disappearing—something wasted. What we need is a shift in our thinking. As Romans 12:2 says: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

As we stand at the beginning of a new year, let’s start by renewing our minds. Instead of seeing time as something that vanishes, let’s tell ourselves: 'This year will not disappear; it will be a year to be completed.' This simple shift in thinking is where true, renewed hope begins."

God’s timing for our "completion" might look different from others, just as planets have their own unique orbits. We need Him completely, for we have no power on our own. Include the Lord in your planning. As the Bible says: “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” – Psalm 37:23

I don’t know about you, but this makes me excited to face the year. For if the Lord delights in every detail of our lives, would He be much wiling to direct us and lay down the foundation for us.

Ask Him for a goal this 2026. If the Creator of the universe knows your future and has plans for your good (Jeremiah 29:11), then with Him at the helm, He will bring you safely to the end. He only has good thoughts for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

This new year is another chance for us to complete something. Not just cruise through life aimlessly and lament at the end of what could have been.

God has a god plan for us this 2026, seek Him and align yourself with His plan.

Ask Him how to go forward and walk with Him throughout the year. He alone can empower you, give you wisdom and favor and open doors of opportunities for you to walk in.

Aim for this year to be completed. The joy of the Lord be your strength. Amen.

God, thank you that you delight in even the tiniest detail of my life. Help me to see your plan for me this 2026. I am trusting in your wisdom and guidance for this year 2026. I rejoice in knowing Your hand will be my guide and my shield this year. Lead me Lord into an abundant life full of hope. Amen. 🙏
