Whisper: Don’t Take God's Protection for Granted.

Updated: Nov 23

The world we live in seems to be moving from bad to worse. I’m sure you’ve noticed: everywhere you look, you hear of death, devastating loss, chaotic weather, earthquakes, and wars. All kinds of evil are accelerating in the times that we are in. It's no surprise that many of us are worried, fearful, and losing hope.

On the night He was betrayed, Jesus offered a prayer for His disciples in the Upper Room:

"I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.” - John 17:15

Today, this prayer is for us, and because Jesus always prays perfect prayers, it has already been answered. Since Jesus Himself prayed, we ought to pray too, aligning ourselves with His request—the very will of God.

Yes, we can and must pray. We should actively ask for protection—from sickness, loss, calamity, confusion, depression, and physical harm.

Rather than becoming fearful, worried, or shutting yourself off from the world, the best choice is to rely on God. Make Him your place of safety and your tower of refuge. We need to go to Him when we are afraid, unsure what to do, or concerned about the things of this world. When we are stepping out each day, doing our everyday tasks, we must seek Him. For He alone can position us at the right place at the right time, and He alone can arrange things for our good.

We are not called to walk in fear, but to walk in faith. We keep our faith alive by trusting God to protect us and placing ourselves actively under His covering.

I recently saw a reel on Instagram showing a church service suddenly interrupted by gunmen opening fire. I was shocked and saddened, and I asked the Lord why He allowed it to happen.

This is what He impressed upon me: Many Christians believe that as long as they go to church, they are automatically safe and God will protect them. But we have an enemy who hates us. In these last days, evil is accelerating, which is why we need to intentionally put ourselves under His covering. We need to grow in faith,

knowing there is a battle in the spiritual realm. God will not move if we don't ask him to move with us and through us. He ordained it in such a way that only through his people will his hands move. He will not act if we don't act on it. He always partners with us. And so, we must stand our ground and actively pursue His protection, recognizing Jesus as our place of safety. A tower of strength and refuge.

God will not force His protection on us if we do not ask for it.

When you leave your home, do you pause to talk to God and place yourself under His care and covering? Throughout the day, do you listen to His silent whispers reminding you that you are safe in His arms? Is He telling you to take a different way, to pause, stop, or go? Listen to the promptings of the Spirit inside you. Because when we ask for protection, He begins to act and walk alongside us throughout the day.

Don’t take Gid's protection for granted. Each day, bring yourself into His presence, ask for His protection and guidance, and declare that He is your refuge and fortress. ❤️

Lord we thank you that you are our high tower, in you we find refuge and strength. Father, we turn to you now in this hour of uncertainty, calamity, wickedness, violence and hatred. We trust in your covering.

Father, we acknowledge that we have no reason to fear. And if we do fear, we surrender it to you. Stir our faith, Lord. Give us faith as your people. And help us to walk as children of light in this dark world.

And we trust you all the more when trouble comes, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. ❤️
